Meet Ron Russell
First and foremost, I am a Mainer. I was born in Fort Fairfield and raised on a potato farm there. My mother was an elementary school teacher, and my father was a farmer. I was raised with an older brother, two older sisters, and one younger sister. As a child, I lived very close to an uncle and my grandmother. My uncle raised six children similar in age to my siblings. One of them was in my grade all through school and we were best friends.
A Strong Maine History
Being raised on a potato farm taught us all the value of family, faith, and hard work. My father entered WWII as an enlisted artilleryman and subsequently attended decorated veteran and even though he didn’t talk about it much, I know it had a positive influence on my brother and me. My brother was six years older than I was and attended the University of Maine with an ROTC Scholarship. After returning from summer camp he convinced me to apply to West Point. I was accepted and I was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry in 1976.
My brother ended up retiring from the U.S. Army after more than 20 years of service as a Military Intelligence officer and later as a military lawyer and Judge. He subsequently served as a Federal Judge in Oklahoma, Maine, and Texas. My two older sisters followed in our mother’s footsteps and taught school initially and then worked as Superintendents in their respective schools. My younger sister, the baby in the family, was a registered nurse in Maine.
I served for 30 years and 28 days in the U.S. Army. As an Airborne Ranger and a Special Forces qualified Green Beret, I had the privilege to serve in some of the finest units in the United States Army over that time. I retired in 2006 and initially worked for a small defense contractor. When that small company was purchased by a large defense contractor, four of us broke off to start our own small business and over the course of 14 years we grew that company to over 150 employees.
I moved back to Maine in June of 2021. I had always known that I would return to Maine one day but I moved home sooner than expected. I was frustrated with the direction our country was taking and I decided to do something about it in my home state. This run for the U.S. Congress is my attempt to help get our country back on track.

My Next

I was frustrated with the direction our country was taking and I decided to do something about it in my home state. This run for the U.S. Congress is my hope to continue to serve this great nation and to help get our country back on track.
